This year I am so excited about the Las Vegas show(s) for many reasons. First, it’s just because of the hype around Phish playing on a holiday. Second, it’s Halloween and who knows what in the world Phish will do! Third, what a great place to play – Las Vegas! Finally, I’m thrilled to be a part of the Phan Art show on Nov. 1st at the Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas sponsored by Relix magazine. It’s going to be an amazing weekend!
As excited as I am, you’d think I was actually going to be there. Unfortunately I won’t be in Vegas – but fortunately I will be at home Trick-or-Treating with my two boys and wife. So how am I going to participate in an art show without being there? Thankfully I have good friends. One of my friends, Trey Erickson will be displaying my art at the show alongside his own creations. Trey has made some very creative Phish inspired pins and T-shirts. You can see his work on facebook under the name “Murphy’s Log Designs” (click here).
Among Trey’s creations is an incredible three piece puzzle set that he created specifically for the Vegas weekend. The three pins represent each of the three nights Phish will perform as well as a Vegas neon sign for iconic casinos. The first night, Halloween, depicts the sign for “Circus Circus” with Roggae lyric “The Circus is the Place For Me”. Night two has “The Pioneer Club” smoking cowboy dressed in a Fishman doughnut shirt. The final pin is the “Golden Nugget” renamed the “Golden Age”. The pins turned out beautiful.
I asked Trey if I could make a matching poster to go with his pin set and he was 100% behind the idea. I took his original concept and made it resemble the back of a playing card in a one and two color print. The blue monoprint is limited to and edition of 40 prints and the dual colored (red/black) The prints are available initially at the Phan Art show on Nov. 1 and any remaining prints will be made available in our online store. We also printed a very limited number of playing card sets that have the same design on the back of each card.
You can find the prints, the cards, or the pins on the Phiftytwoweeks store.
Happy Vegas, Happy Halloween, Happy Phishing!
